Mark Rawlings - Restoration Specialist
Mark Rawlings comes from a family of construction pioneers dating back to the early 20th century. His great grandfather owned and operated east Texas sawmills and a lumberyard where his grandfather and father learned how the utilization of raw materials to build homes could be used not only to provide a living for their families but other families in the community as well. With construction inherently in his blood, Mark worked alongside his father to learn all aspects of the building process and later found his niche in the hospitality industry, specializing in restaurants and bars.
In 1998 Mark's focus turned to the hotel industry beginning with the restoration of the historic Driskill Hotel in Austin. Other hotel clients followed including the Hilton Austin, Barton Creek Resort and Spa, Lakeway Resort, Sheraton Capitol, Vintage Villas at Lake Travis, Hilton Garden Inn, Doubletree Guest Suites, Stephen F. Austin Intercontinental, Omni Southpark, as well as the historic St. Anthony in San Antonio.
Heading up the design-build restoration and long term maintenance contracts for both the St. Anthony Hotel in San Antonio and the Driskill Hotel in Austin, Mark's practical knowledge of how building systems should operate and integrate with one another, what types of systems ultimately will be in the best interest of the building, and how to hire the best personnel to maintain these systems are just some of the aspects taken into consideration.
As a restoration specialist, Mark is now spearheading the construction for the physical restoration of the Baker and will be highly involved in all aspects of the renovation process.
